Featured Troupe of the Month - WA Thespian Society

AMHS Musical Troupe, #12615, was named as the “Featured Troupe of the Month” for April 2026. Read the article below:

Troupe 12615 was created earlier this year with only two active members but are hoping their experience at State and their love of the arts gets more students to join in no time! When speaking to their troupe they described their reasons for joining Washington Thespians “I wanted to create a troupe so I can have my cast and crew be apart of an amazing organization and to be recognized for their talent” said their troupe director Alex Yonke, “I joined the festival to take part in all the wonderful workshops available! I had such a fun time learning in each one and being surrounded by others with the same love to learn!” said Jayden Davis, acting President.

Though their troupe be but little, they are quite fierce, “Our show last year ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ drew such an amazing audience and excitement for the program. This year we did ‘Mean Girls: High School Version.’ This production was very successful and broke school records. We had six performances, three of which were sold out and three at over 90% capacity. We made $20,000 in ticket sales which broke the previous record of last year’s production of $15,000. I am proud to be a part of a community and school with supportive parents and faculty as well as talented students who are able to come together to put a show on stage in two months.” Said their director when explaining their drama program! This troupe, while small, has a lot of heart behind it “I am excited for the possibilities that we can produce to be able to showcase our talented actors, musicians, and crew. And to be able to showcase that talent to the state.”

For those at State you may recognize Troupe 12615 for their outstanding Lip Sync Battle Performance to “You and Me but Mostly Me” from The Book of Mormon. This duo dominated in bringing stellar choreography, characterization, and humor to our amazing State event. Because of their hard work and commitment they were able to bring home the prestigious Paper Plate Award for Best Soloist, or in their case, Best Soloists! We can not wait to see what they bring next year!
